Sixth Form Eco Ambassadors recently visited Fenn Bell Conservation Zoo to deepen their understanding of wildlife conservation and environmental responsibility. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for students to explore the zoo’s unique animal collection while learning about the vital role conservation plays in protecting endangered species. During the visit, students were introduced to a range of animals, including several species that are currently close to extinction. Zoo staff shared insights into the threats these animals face in the wild, such as habitat loss, climate change and illegal wildlife trade, helping students to understand the global challenges surrounding biodiversity. The Eco Ambassadors also learned about the zoo’s conservation techniques, including ethical breeding programmes, habitat enrichment, and education initiatives designed to raise awareness and support long-term species survival. These real-world examples allowed students to see how conservation theory is put into practice. The experience inspired students to reflect on their own impact on the environment and reinforced the importance of sustainability and conservation efforts. The visit to Fenn Bell Conservation Zoo was both educational and motivating, supporting the Eco Ambassadors in their ongoing work to promote environmental awareness within the school community. Students in Year 12 took part in a taster session with Mr Thomas playing djembe drums for their CoPE Coursework. They learnt about the parts of drum and where it originated from and then learnt the 3 main drumming sounds that can be made. The bass, the tone and the slap. Students learnt to play basic rhythms separately and then together as an ensemble. Everyone really enjoyed the experience and is looking forward to the second session next week where they will build on the skills learnt. @medway_council_news @cafodschools @rcsouthwark
On February 17th Sydney is donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust who provide real hair wigs for children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK. Alongside her donation she is also fundraising via Just Giving. Any support for Sydney would be greatly appreciated, whether that’s a financial contribution or words of encouragement. The Little Princess Trust @cafodschools @medway_council_news Council

The sixth form leadership team has now begun delivering post-16 guidance sessions to the Year 10 cohort. These sessions take place during form time in the Sixth Form Private Study Room and are designed to give students an early insight into sixth-form life. Students are encouraged to ask questions and engage in discussions around expectations, opportunities, and the effective study habits required to be successful at post-16 level.
Following the success of these sessions with the Year 11 cohort, the programme has now been extended to Year 10 students to support early preparation and informed decision-making. The sessions aim to raise aspirations, build confidence, and help students develop a clear understanding of the transition to sixth form, ensuring they are well equipped for the next stage of their academic journey. #Leaders #RoleModels Medway Council CAFOD in Westminster

Year 10 and Year 11 GCSE Drama students went to see a spectacular production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express at the Troubador Wembley Park Theatre!
The costumes were incredible, the lighting amazing, with the whole cast on roller skates or scooters! It was an adrenaline filled production, and may have inspired some of our students to take up skating – or at least to listen to the soundtrack on the way home! #starlightexpress #wembleyparktheatre #sjftrips #gcsedrama @medway_council_news @CAFOD
