We are pleased to announce that we are running the Accelerated Reader programme for our Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students this year.
Accelerated Reader allows us to measure your child’s reading age, support and monitor their progress and put in place interventions where necessary. This enables your child to develop the reading and comprehension skills needed to perform successfully in all their GCSE qualifications.
As part of the programme, your child will read books at a level suitable to them in their English class. In addition, we would like to allow your child to take their reading book home, so that they can read outside of English lessons and maximise their progress.
In order to register your permission for your child to bring their book home, please complete the following electronic permission slip here: (click here to register consent)
Once you have opened the link, please enter the name of your child and select their year group (7-10) from the drop-down menu.
You will then need to check the tick box to confirm that you give permission for your child to take their book home and that, if your child damages or loses the book, you will replace it.
If you have more than one child accessing the Accelerated Reader Programme, you will need to complete separate reply slips for each child.
Please note that books will need to be brought into school for English lessons:
- Year 7: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
- Year 8: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
- Years 9 and 10: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
A paper copy of the reply slip is available on request.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.
