Mental Health & Wellbeing
The following organisations have some useful advice for young people struggling with anxiety and other mental health concerns:
- YOUNGMiNDS are the UK’s leading charity for children and young people’s mental health. If you are in a mental health crisis, YOUNGMiNDS have a free 24/7 support service across the UK
- MindEd for Families is a free learning resource about the mental health of children, young people and older adults.
- Child Mind Institute has a wide range of resources to support families with children that are struggling.
- MoodSpark is “a place where young people aged 10-16 can learn how to look after their emotional and mental health and find ways to help them bounce back when life gets tough.” The website contains lots of resources to support wellbeing, and build resilience.
- The Samaritans offers support for children as well as adults.
- Childline is a free, private and confidential service where students can talk about anything, whatever their worry.
If you are worried about someone:
- To report a non-urgent crime, call 101 and ask to speak to the police.
- If you or someone you know is in danger, is at risk of imminent harm or has been harmed, call 999 and speak to emergency services.
- If you or someone you know is suffering due to Domestic Violence, call 0808 2000 247 and speak to Refuge
- If you have concerns about the welfare of a child, you can call 01634 334466 – Children’s Services (Social Care) or 03000 419191– Children’s Services Out of Hours
Bereavement
If your family have suffered a bereavement, Child Bereavement UK have a range of resources to support children and their families. Alternatively, you can call their helpline on 0800 02 888 40.
