Dear Students, Parents and Carers,

Paul – Year 12

It is with deep regret that I write to inform you that one of our Year 12 students, Paul, died last night in hospital. He was taken ill and was admitted to hospital yesterday evening, and passed away some hours later.

As a school community, we have expressed our deep condolences and sincere sympathy to Paul’s family at this time and we will work with them to celebrate his life at a later stage.

In this moment, we recognise that Paul’s sudden death is extremely upsetting for our whole school community. We are working with two therapists to provide counselling support to any staff or student who may need it. We will also have a team of staff available to support the students who knew Paul well.

Different members of our community will respond to this news in different ways. You may find it useful to speak in confidence either to Childline (0800 1111 and https://www.childline.org.uk/get-support/) or the Samaritans (116 123 or https://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help-you/contact-us ).

It is very important that everyone remains as calm as possible. This will help those who knew Paul best to grieve. We will also ensure that Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 students can continue taking their external examinations, in the most supportive environment, as these exams cannot be rearranged.

I would ask you to join with the school community in remembering Paul and his family in your thoughts and prayers at this awful time for them.

God Bless,

Mrs. Lennon
