Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope that you and your families are well. I am writing to update you about how we are continuing to support our families.
The school will be fully closed on Saturday 4th April through to Monday 13th April inclusive. There will be no-one in school to answer the phones or messages during this time. There are contact numbers for people who can help you during this time at the end of this email.
From Tuesday 14th April to Friday 17th April, the school is open to enable a deep clean to take place. We continue to provide provision for the children of key workers upon request. If you are in this position, please contact Mrs. Simpson on 01634 543132 extension 6004.
Free School Meals
You will have seen in the news this week that the government has opened its voucher scheme for free school meals. We have been working to put this in place this for families so that it is ready for after the Easter break.
If we have your email details on record, we will email you by the end of the week with instructions of how to set up your access to these vouchers.
We have made considerable efforts to contact the families who have not provided email details, but in some cases, we have been unable to do so. Should this be the case with your family, we will contact you by phone or post after school reopens on Tuesday 14th April to arrange the next steps.
I want to reassure you of our determination to support you during these difficult times. To that end, any queries about the free school meals should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. This account will be monitored from Tuesday 14th April.
Update on Grade Awarding Process for Year 11 and 13
Ofqual (the government body responsible for external examinations) today released some further information about the process by which GCSE and A Level grades will be awarded. We are still waiting to hear how BTEC and other vocational grades will be finalised.
We will be working on this over the coming weeks and months. If you would like further information, please visit https://www.gov.uk/government/news/how-gcses-as-a-levels-will-be-awarded-in-summer-2020
Wellbeing and Spiritual Resources
Wellbeing and formation have always been priorities at St. John Fisher and it is more important than ever that we take care of ourselves. To those ends, liturgical and spiritual resources are available through the school website, and we have placed several useful documents about wellbeing on Show My Homework for the benefit of all students.
