Dear All,

Thank you for your many messages of support. I am pleased to say that learning is continuing in a new way. There are a small number of students on site each day and we are in contact with every student least weekly through our pastoral care leaders and family liaison officer. When they call, they will ask to speak to your child as part of our keeping in touch efforts. We know that students are concerned and we want them to know that even though they are not in the building, they are still part of our community. If you having particular difficulties, please do tell the PCL/FLO when they call and we will endeavour to get extra support in place for you.

You have received a survey from me today as the local authority are trying to ascertain which families need supervision for their children over the Easter holiday. These are predominantly the children of key workers and vulnerable students. The same advice from government still applies that where students can be looked after at home, this is what should happy in order to stay safe.

There have been some issues with Show my Homework and I would ask you to contact the school office if students have forgotten their PINs. Teachers will have set specific pieces of work that should be submitted electronically. Can all other work be stored at home and returned to teachers once the school reopens.

We continue to provide free schools meals for those students who are entitled to them. There are three places that they are available, the school (Ordnance street) English Martyrs school in Strood (school playground) and the Robert Napier School in Gillingham (school playground).

Today at 5pm the Pope will streaming live and asking us to join him in universal prayer, this is to pray for an end to the pandemic.

The Pope has said ‘”We want to respond to the virus pandemic with the universality of prayer, compassion and tenderness. Let us stay united.

The prayer service will also include the Urbi et Orbi blessing which is ordinarily given at Christmas and Easter, this is a special outreach by the Pope at this current time for the world suffering with the pandemic.

Below are two links where you can watch the stream and join in. – the link will become available closer to 5pm today.
